WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Council for Professional Recognition, the nonprofit organization that supports early childhood education professionals and administers the Child Development Associate® (CDA) Credential, and Parents as Teachers National Center (PATNC) announce a partnership to enhance opportunities for early childhood educators to increase the number of educators earning the Home Visitor CDA Credential.

Parents as Teachers is a voluntary early childhood development program offering research-based curricula that help families raise children to be healthy, safe, and learning. The National Center supports  Parents as Teachers in all 50 U.S. states, 115 Tribal organizations,  six other countries, and one U.S. territory. Many in the  Parents as Teachers  community have already earned their Home Visitor CDA Credential.

Through this collaboration, the Council and PATNC seek to equip educators with the necessary tools and resources to earn a Home Visitor CDA Credential. By expanding opportunities to educators, they aim to elevate the standards of early childhood education and ultimately improve outcomes for young children across the country.

Dr. Calvin E. Moore, Jr., CEO of the Council for Professional Recognition, says, “We have long admired the impactful work of Parents as Teachers and its National Center and are thrilled to join forces with them. Our shared missions will enable us to better support educators in empowering parents to be their child’s first and most influential teachers.”

Constance Gully, president and CEO of PATNC, says, “We are delighted to partner with the Council for Professional Recognition. This collaboration strengthens our commitment to equipping educators with the tools they need to empower parents, recognizing their pivotal role in their children’s early development and learning.”

The Home Visitor CDA Credential is a nationally recognized credential that validates the skills and knowledge for caseworkers conducting home visits with families of children ages birth to 5 years.

The organizations will work together to share resources, professional development preparation, events and more.
