Getting to Know the Council

“I would encourage any early childhood professional to pursue the CDA® .  It is a first step on a successful and enlightening career path in early childhood education.”

Jonathan thinks of himself as a “numbers man” who wants quantitative proof that something works before pursuing it long term. He takes this approach in his crucial work at the Council, and he also took it when he enrolled his daughter in her first preschool. After two weeks, he realized the school was “underwhelming” and used substandard methods, as he recalls. So, he quickly switched his daughter to School for Friends, where he saw proof of the impact that skilled educators can make. “My daughter bloomed,” Jonathan says. And her rapid progress made him a fan of the CDA. “I would encourage all early learning professionals to pursue the CDA since CDA holders must provide multiple forms of proof that that they can work successfully with young children.”

Jonathan is convinced that CDA candidates can succeed if they have “confidence” and “work hard,” as he explains. He supports them by overseeing the Council’s financial well-being so it can keep certifying CDAs. He also helps ensure his family’s well-being by pointing out their talents and innate value, an approach that is clearly working. His daughter recently gave him a mixed-breed puppy named Marley, and the adorable pooch is proof that she believes in him as much as he believes in her. And despite being a numbers guy, Jonathan knows he can’t quantify the deep love that he and his family share.
