Reimagining the CDA®

The Council for Professional Recognition has embarked on a change initiative focusing on providing the best experience for our stakeholders as they engage with our processes and systems. We have taken the past year to reflect upon how our community engage with us in the current application process to earn the Child Development Associate® (CDA) Credential. The Council is committed to providing a seamless customer experience to all stakeholders. This change initiative will not change the CDA® credential. The credential that you know as being the most recognized ECE credential globally will remain unchanged. The CDA® credential is now in the hands of over 1 million educators. Now more  than ever, we need to increase the number of highly-qualified  CDA educators to provide our youngest learners with the best start in life. Reimagining the CDA process will focus on delivering candidate-centric technology and systems to engage each person seeking to earn their CDA.

The Council’s mission is to provide all children with quality educators in the early years. We understand that efficient systems and processes lead to excellent services and superior outcomes for children, families and educators.

Dr. Calvin E. Moore, Jr., the Council’s CEO, says, “The pandemic has renewed our appreciation of the dedication and hard work of early childhood educators who earn and renew their CDA — I call them superheroes!

“Now is the time to ensure we’re doing all we can to provide candidates an efficient, seamless and hassle-free process. It’s important because we always want to provide our youngest learners with the best start in life, and that’s why we’re implementing these enhancements. The world needs more of these superheroes who give young children the best possible start in life.”
