Industry Leaders Gather to Advance Competency, Capacity and Career Pathways for Educators

ATLANTA, Ga.—The Council for Professional Recognition, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit leader in the early childhood care and education arena, kicks off its sold-out 2019 Early Educators Leadership Conference (EELC) today just outside of Atlanta in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

EELC is an annual early childhood education conference hosted by the Council that convenes national and international leaders, policymakers, early childhood professionals, higher education institutions, and early childhood training organizations with the goal of unifying and inspiring the early childhood education (ECE) workforce, elevating educational leaders, and fostering professional development.

“Quality early childhood care and education help the workforce of today and tomorrow, yet demand exceeds supply as families face skyrocketing costs,” said Council CEO Valora Washington, Ph.D. “This conference is about creating change—we must come together to use advocacy, innovation and policy change to guarantee high-quality, affordable and accessible child care for all.”

Over the next three days, the 2019 EELC will offer expert speakers, panelists and innovative special events with the goal of advancing the professionalism and recognition of early childhood educators and caregivers. The conference also presents an important opportunity to make the voices of ECE professionals heard and to rally behind them to help achieve the equity, compensation and career opportunities they deserve.

The 2019 EELC, which runs through Friday, Oct. 11, will feature a varied lineup of speakers, including:

  • Dr. Valora Washington, CEO of the Council for Professional Recognition;
  • Judy Jablon, executive director of Leading for Children;
  • Milton J. Little, Jr., president and CEO of United Way of Greater Atlanta; and
  • Edward Terry, mayor of Clarkston, Georgia.

The 2019 EELC was made possible by Gold Sponsors Teachstone®, Foundation for Child Development and Learning Care Group, Inc., as well as Silver Sponsors ProSolutions Training, ChildCare Education Institute, ChinaWise and Badr University in Cairo.
