San-JoseDr. Valora Washington has been racking up the frequent-flier miles lately. This week, she was in San Jose, CA, for the Early Futures conference.

The conference – on Nov. 27 and 28 – billed itself as “a first-of-its-kind gathering of leaders who understand that the early childhood years are a critical time for new investments in our nation’s precious resource, our children.”

On Oct. 19, Washington was the keynote speaker at Starting Point’s Annual Leadership Conference in Warrensville, OH, which is very close to Cleveland.

Washington also led a session at the conference, titled Strength and Competence: You’ve Got What It Takes and Here’s How To Do It! Her core message centered on the need to “professionalize” the early childhood education workforce, garner respect in the industry and push for pay equity.

On Oct. 27, she was a keynote speaker at the 4C Leadership and Early Childhood Conference at the Sharonville Convention Center in Cincinnati. Her message: It’s essential that early childhood educators reach their full potential and that they deserve broad and deep public investment and greater respect for their work.

The week of Nov. 6, she headed to Texas for the ICE Exchange – the annual conference of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence. The conference was held in Austin.

No word yet on whether she picked up boots and a Stetson while she was there!
