CDA® Advisory Committee Learns About Professional Development Offerings

January 24, 2022

Finding informative and trusted early childhood educator resources online can be a challenge. That’s why the CDA® Advisory Committee met virtually to learn more about the nonprofit, The Source for Learning (SFL) and its ECE webinar program that puts valuable knowledge within easy reach. They’re designed for early childhood educators working with children from birth to Pre-K and are presented by seasoned educators and subject matter experts.

SFL CEO Lynn Rejniak and Kamna Seth, Senior Director of ECE Initiatives, provided the committee members with an in-depth overview of their offerings for educators. Kamna has a particularly strong understanding of the CDA® process as she has served as a CDA PD Specialist™.

Webinar participants can earn professional learning certificates to document their professional growth. Recent topics have included:

  • What’s the Difference? Culturally Responsive Teaching & Learning in Early Childhood Education
  • Early Childhood Teaching: From Easing Stress to Increasing Engagement
  • Leadership Series: Be Inspired!

The sessions are live during typical nap times in ECE centers and recorded for later viewing.

The committee was also made aware of SFL’s Early Childhood Administrator Professional Credential, VA-ECAP, that’s currently offered only in Virginia but may soon expand to other states It allows CDA® credentialed educators to build their professional portfolio with new skills in early childhood education, management and leadership.

Committee member Charvella McKaye is assistant professor for Early Childhood Development and Education at Columbus State Community College in Ohio and oversees the CDA® preparation program. She said, “We commend The Source for Learning for putting these webinars together as any time we have professional development in our field, it’s welcomed.”
